![]() ![]() This is not the first, second or even third attempt Koontz has made at this new technique, and while he sometimes does it better than others (namely Soul Survivor), very little is memorable. ![]() Koontz is trying to follow in the footsteps of King, oftentimes echoing the same themes as him, but, in all honesty, I don’t see it in the cards as ever happening. However, unlike his rival Stephen King, Koontz still hasn’t found his voice yet in the transition from writing horror to the recent forays of more human dramas. The answer, however, is a bunch of philosophical jargon that is meant to be profound but instead is head-scratchingly nonsensical.įortunately, that description can’t be applied to the book as a whole, which is entertaining for the most part. Much like his last book, From the Corner of His Eye, the latest Dean Koontz novel One Door Away from Heaven gets its title from a riddle posed to the main character. ![]()
